December 11, 20232 yr So I've gotten back into flight sim 2020, and I've always used littlenavmap to make flight plans & whatnot. But on my end, version 2.8.11, Tacans and Vortacs are not displayed on the map with their distinctive little icons, I can only see VORs. I never had a navigraph subscription, but I swear I could see these on the map in prior versions.
December 11, 20232 yr This is a limitation of MSFS. It does not provide TACAN and VORTACs. TACAN are shown as DME instead and VORTAC as VORDME. There are more limitations when using the MSFS scenery library (no MORA, MSA and other features) as only data source. MSFS simply does not provide these. You can avoid the limitations by updating the MSFS and LNM navdata with a Navigraph subscription. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
December 12, 20232 yr Sorry, cannot change it. The additional navaid types are available in X-Plane but in MSFS they are simply missing.🤷♂️ Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
January 1, 20242 yr Hi. Found this thread when googling about lack of TACAN in LNM. I bought the Vulcan by Just Flight and wanted to find TACAN channels more easily but LNM only shows them as NDBs with no channel info. MSFS does have TACAN stations. You can see them in the world map and in the in game VFR map and you can tune them in planes that support it like the Vulcan and some other military planes. Here's some examples of them in game. I don't have Navigraph or anything else installed so this is stock database. Boscome Down in the UK: Volkel in the Netherlands And the in-game VFR map at Aviano in Italy I think TACAN stations were added around the time they added the free F/A-18E a couple of years ago, or not long after. Would be great to see them in LNM using the default database as well. Cheers.
January 1, 20242 yr Thanks for the information. I'll see. Maybe I can add this to one of the 3.0 releases but I'm not sure since the BGL format is not documented by Asobo and therefore requires some guessing. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
