Unfriendly Skies Rodney Stich

I have just read some from "Unfriendly Skies" by Rodney Stich and found it as horrendous reading, is all of this true? First of all i've got the impression that Stich is pretty harsh against United Airlines and FAA, also i discovered some factuals errors describing a DC9 as an 737 and a DC8 as a DC9 in some disasters. Its also worth mentioning the description of crash scenes as a horrorshow with some speculative elements.
