IFR nav with G1000NXI MSFS

Hi,
First post and excuse me if this is user error. I plan an IFR route in Navigraph/Simbrief and replicate it in MSFS flight planner. When I go to the cockpit view, I import it in the G1000 but I am unable to switch from LOC 1 to GPS. The CDI softkey doesn't function. If I don't put the route in to MSFS it works fine. Am I doing something wrong?
