February 27, 20242 yr I landed at ENSB, Longyear, Svalbard, and it was a delightful airport. Lots of snow plows. (Stock MSFS scenery.) The approach was at night, and there were no runway lights, which made the visual part pretty challenging. After landing, I could see the MSFS depiction of the runway light pylons but they weren't illuminated. I've never seen this before, so I was wondering if this is a bug or a feature. Weather was clear and visibility was unlimited, if that makes a difference. Street lights on surrounding roads were on, as were lights on buildings and animated airport vehicles. Only the runway lights and taxiway lights on the airport itself were dark. Are runway lights sometimes off? Do any airports have pilot-controlled lighting? If the runway lights turn off at a certain time or under certain circumstances, I'll be impressed (and humbled, because I didn't know about this until now.) Thanks.
