"Improved" Ground friction in SU 15?

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried the new ground friction model in SU 15 with the default C172?  I'm experiencing it pulling hard to the left and I need right toe brake and full rudder to turn right below 10kts when taxing.  I was wondering if anyone tried it yet?  If someone else says it's good for them I'll keep looking for the solution but I'm pretty sure it's just messed up.

You can delete this I found out the wind was 34g40 so it was spinning me.  Regardless, not impressed with this new "Improved ground friction"  I can't really tell the difference. It's a bit less twitchy but now over sensitive to wind?

I haven't tested with the 172 yet, but I find the improvements with the Duke very noticeable. Quoting what I wrote in the Duke thread:

It's night and day for me.

As it happens, my last three flights in the Duke before the SU15 update all had a crosswind on landing, and I was all over the place on the runway. I resolved to do some crosswind landing practice once SU15 was released, and it's much better. Feels much more predictable, much more planted, and much more like I'm actually "in contact" with the ground rather than skating over it. Braking with my rudder pedals is also more controllable. Really pleased with the updates the SU15 has brought in this area.

When you say "over sensitive to wind" -- have you tested in something less than the 34G40 you originally had? Taxiing a 172 in winds as strong as that is very challenging in any case.
