Little Navmap + MSFS 2020 Incorrect aircraft Altitude

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm using Little Navmap connected remotely to my Gaming PC. Everything works fine but I don't understand an issue:
I'm loading on an airport and I check Filed Elevation and local barometric pressure (QXXXX) on Little Navmap. When I set this barometric pressure on my aircraft Altimeter I see that elevation shown by the altimeter differs from Field Elevation from Little Navmap for 30-60 feet.

What am I doing wrong? Or how I should understand QFE and QNH in MSFS 2020 connected with LNM ?
Best regards !

The first problem is that LNM cannot read weather from MSFS simply because it does not provide the interface. NOAA and MSFS weather might differ, for example.

Then you have to set the QNH which is the pressure at sea level.
Example: METAR EGLL 301720Z AUTO 34006KT 300V020 9999 16/11 Q1012
Set your altimeter to 1012 hPa to see the airport elevation in your altimeter.

But there are a lot of other factors playing a role. One is the low temperature correction which is modeled in MSFS.

Others may be parking spot, runway or your general aircraft location having a different elevation than the general one given for the airport. Runways have a threshold elevation which can be different, for example.

And then there might be elevation differences between stock airports and probably not recognized airport add-ons due to copy protection.

Also note that LNM shows actual or indicated aircraft altitude in different places. You can configure this in menu Tools.
