December 22, 200718 yr Hi All,Can anyone tell me why my downloads for FSX are perfect except the paint is missing on the external surfaces. I've downloaded about thirty aircraft with the hope that at least some would turn out right. I did have success with one. the Europa light plane. but all the others have the dull gray finish. Is this possibly a Vista thing?System Model Dell XPS420Processor Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz, 2992 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)3 gig 800 ddr and 8800 GTS 320 nvidia with 32 bit Vist OS.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Blackie
December 22, 200718 yr Well, I solved my own problem. DX10 is the culprit. Seems like DX10 doesn't like FS9 aircraft. So be advised that The aircraft designed for FS9 will not have a paint job. otherwise they seem to work ok. So You'll need to un-check the DX10 preview box and restart FSX when flying FS9 addons. At least that's the way it is on my machine.Blackie
December 22, 200718 yr You hit the nail on the head Blackie. There has been a bit of discussion on the forums recently about the loss of backward compatibility with FS9 aircraft and SP2/DX10 Preview installed. Some of it is buried in an excellent 20 something page post but rather than wading through that you may want to jump over to Phil Taylors blog and check out his link to Outhouse which has a list of FS9 aircraft that work OK with SP2/DX10.CheersTerry No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
