August 22, 20241 yr Hey guys, so I’m just looking for some basic info here and I’m wanting to modify aircraft sounds. Used to do this easily in P3D by just swapping the wav files with the sound I wanted..apparently it’s gotten a lot more complicated nowadays and my understanding is those was sound files are imbedded in a pak file? So I’ve tried to open them with 7zip (which is supports .pak allegedly) not it says it cannot open the archive. So to land the plane so to speak, how do I open pak files and how can I access the actual sound recordings within a sound file??

To replace individual sounds, the only real way is to create a second sound project with it's own .PCK file referenced in the sound.xml, and then for the sound you want to replace, point it at the Wwise event for your new sound. This can get quite complicated because a single Wwise event can be multiple sounds, especially if it's a blendtrack.
