January 31, 200818 yr hi,one fsx installation ago I remember to have noticed, flying across center/northern european countries, green landscapes, according to rainy cold season settingnow I observe light brownish terrains: it almost looks like desert environment, were it not for trees, hills and buildings (in Ireland it's not supposed to happen, isn't it? or does fsx takes into account the global warming of the planet? ;-) )I have:ActiveXXgraphicsUTXGEXFSGlobalthanks for any hint win10 i9-9900/ gtx1080 / Fatal1ty Titanium / 4x8Gb / Warthog / trackIR5 / 3Dvision / CH Throttle Quadrant / Saitek trim wheel / OCULUs CV1P3dv4.5 XP11
January 31, 200818 yr Here's my hint: With one of those excellent payware programs you have, change the terrain to the color you desire as they override the FSX defaults. There is no UTX Europe yet but one of those other graphics programs should work. FSGlobal should give you the proper landclass details for Ireland but I'm not positive as I have never used the program. UTX Europe, when released, should provide you better landclass information. If you have tried to change the textures using those programs, perhaps you have corrupted the scenery textures beyond repair. I know they backup the default textures but those may have been overwritten when you installed and ran additional graphics programs. Maybe a complete uninstall/reinstall is in order? (Ugh!)Best regards,Jim
January 31, 200818 yr The default FSX rendering of seasons is very poorly made. the same problem appeared in the USA/Canada as well. it requires replacement textures and landclass to fix it.Europe is coming with GEX and I also use Xclass landclass products which help however the seasons.bgl file they include often does not work right and I rename the Xclass season file so FSX does not use itGEX enhanced USA Canada with or without the default FSX landclass fixes most of the really poor quality issues, and, GEX Enhanced due to be released in the next week or so will also address no color balance in fall/winter/hard winter with the burt orage night lighting being replaced with correct city lights.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24817http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24832http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24796http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24794http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24783http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24776Even deserts come to lifehttp://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24798Europe is in production for both GEX and UTX. There ae some replacement freeware textures in the library here for Europe which I understand help with the drab defaults however as of yet I have not used them.
January 31, 200818 yr Author @ firehawk44thanks: I am using those add-ons since a few days, so I don't know them deeply yet, but as far as I've understood FSGlobal is about altitutes, not textures; concerning the others, I did not touch anything yet, so corruption could only have happened by "electronic chance" ;-)@Nick_N:-) so let the wait begin win10 i9-9900/ gtx1080 / Fatal1ty Titanium / 4x8Gb / Warthog / trackIR5 / 3Dvision / CH Throttle Quadrant / Saitek trim wheel / OCULUs CV1P3dv4.5 XP11
January 31, 200818 yr Europe will have the same enhancements, so it will be worth the waitFTX will also add another level to the entire mix as they release their packages for Europe. You will be able to get the enhanced GEX USACAN next week
February 6, 200818 yr Author in the meantime, while we wait: the customized european textures that I've found in the avsim library are improving a lot: i.e., Italy looks like Italy now, and not Mali or Kirghizstan :-) win10 i9-9900/ gtx1080 / Fatal1ty Titanium / 4x8Gb / Warthog / trackIR5 / 3Dvision / CH Throttle Quadrant / Saitek trim wheel / OCULUs CV1P3dv4.5 XP11
