free camera view in FSX?

Featured Replies

hello, after watching demo videos about UltimateTraffic and MyTraffic airport activities (and road traffic as well), I am asking whether there is a tweak/addon capable to give free movement of view (just like for the "spectator" condition in multiplayer games) inside FSX, unbound from ownship, to better enjoy airport operationsthanks

There is a globally available view (in a new window) of ai aircraft within range by using the traffic menu and selecting the aircraft desired. The view is equivalent to the locked spot view of user aircraft. You can rotate the view and adjust distance and magnification as you do your own aircraft. The camera tracks the selected aircraft. You can initially only select aircraft visible in the menu (which does not scroll) but you can step through all aircraft using the "S" key like any other camera view. For "airport operations" there is also the ability to unlock the tower view and pan about. Assign a key for the view control "View track/pan (toggle)". You can edit the camera definition to also be able to MOVE the tower for a better view. My 'nearest tower' camera is edited thus:XyzAdjust = TRUEXyzRate = 1.5and you could add a pan speed component if you wish.If you have Deluxe (you didn't say..) and install the SDK TrafficToolBox utility, you can view all AI in list or map mode and select ANY specific aircraft desired.Additionally, you can set up a multiplayer "flight" as Controller at a specific airport, save the flight and reselect in Free flight mode and you can watch traffic at that location from the tower with all the tower features.Hope this is some of what you wanted to know.Loyd
