NORCAL  - Trinity Alps & Redwood Empire

The Redwood Empire in Northern California stretches along the Pacific coast from San Francisco Bay to the Oregon border. The interior features rugged mountains, narrow valleys, canyons, and dense forests of redwood, Douglas fir, and oak. Coastal areas have a foggy climate with mild winters and summers, while inland areas experience hot summers and snowy winters at higher elevations.

Departing from Redding (KRDD), the route proceeds 34 nautical miles northwest to Trinity Center (O86) before turning southwest with landings at Weaverville (O54) and Hayfork (F62). The journey continues with zig-zag legs across the coastal ranges, arriving at Murray Field (KEKA) in Eureka on the Pacific coast. Following a brief stop at Rohnerville (KFOT), we fly along the rugged and isolated Lost Coast before landing at Shelter Cove (0Q5). Turning inland, the route includes a landing at Gaberville (O16) on the Eel River, followed by a further eastward leg to Hell'er High Water and Ruth (T42) on the Mad River. The route then turns south over the Yolla Bolly Wilderness, with landings at Round Valley (O09) and Els-Willits (O28), before heading west towards the Pacific Ocean. After overflying Mendocino on the scenic headland, we reach our final destination at Little River (KLLR).
