FSX iFly 747-400 and Inertial Reference System

Featured Replies

I just recently installed the subject airplane, and seem to be able to get just about everything to work except alignment of the inertial Nav system. I have tried both the instructions in the IFly manual and a tutorial on the subject in a similar payware system. They differ only slightly in the step-by-step instructions, but both go off the rails in the final step, in that the alignment is never confirmed. I am apparently misunderstanding something in the alignment procedure. Anyone know of a tutorial specifically for the IFly model?Different Topic: I know that INS was state-of-the-art at the time the 747 was being developed (no such thing as GPS then), but wonder if any of the systems are still in use. A GPS unit would probably do a better job at a fraction of the cost (without the ever-present gyro drift gremlin to worry about). :(Regards,Thrakete
