August 31, 2025Aug 31 Okay folks--I'm baffled by something that has happened overnight seemingly out of the blue to my (special needs) son's P3d regarding the default startup views regardless of the airplane selected (global issue): When the scenario starts up to the default virtual cockpit, the zoom level is way too close to the panel--almost as if 90% of the view is looking out front of the Captain's window. When you try to adjust the zoom level by the usual mouse thumbwheel, it has virtually no limit and you look like you are looking through a fisheye lens from the cockpit entry door. There used to be a limit and never get distortion. Same with the external views--either too close in and when you try zooming out, you get the fisheye distortion again--distorting the image. Now, for some reason, this just started today after years of using P3D. He never messes with any of the settings menu, so I can't figure out what happened. I've checked all the settings, display resolutions, reset keyboard, mouse and Thrustmaster joystick settings to default and nothing has changed that I can detect. So I've searched the forum and come up empty-handed. Any ideas of the cause and corrective action(s) would really be appreciated. i7 14700KF 20C 5.6GHZ - DDR5 6000Mhz 64GB- NVIDIA Geforce RTX 5070 - MSI MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI - XIDAX PERFORMANCE NVME M.2 SSD: 2TB
September 11, 2025Sep 11 Moderator @Deadbug, the simplest solution is to rename your prepar3d.cfg file changing the extension to .old. Start P3D and a new one will be created. The view settings should revert to normal. You’ll need to set all your preferences again so before you do the above take a screenshot of each section so you can set them quicker.
