Ryukyu Islands

The Ryukyu Islands (also called the Nansei Islands or the Ryukyu Arc) are a chain of Japanese islands stretching from Kyushu to Taiwan. They are grouped into the Satsunan Islands and Okinawa Prefecture, with larger islands being mainly volcanic and smaller ones mostly coral. Okinawa Island is the largest in the group.

The islands' climate varies from humid subtropical in the north to tropical rainforest in the south. Rainfall is heavy due to the rainy season and typhoons. Geologically, the chain is divided by the Tokara Strait and Kerama Gap, with coral reefs common beyond the Tokara Strait.

Starting from Shimojishima (RORS) the route proceeds to the northeast with stops at the following airports/airstrips (optional freeware downloads linked):

The route is 553nm and an aircraft capable of 200+ knots will be needed.  Some of the airports are quite short and will be a challenge to get in and out of.  Consider yourself notified.

I plan to fly the World Update 20 Japan Local Legend NAMC YS-11 in the All Nippon Airways (Mohican) livery.  I have included a camera.cfg with custom cabin wing and engine views for the YS-11.  The default Saab 340 would be a comparable commercial transport option.  As always you are free to fly what you like.

Beginning October 26, Europe is back to Standard Time. Traditionally, we stick with the European departure time until North America changes the time as well. That means that this flight departs 1 hour later for the North American pilots.
