ADDING NIGHT TEXTURES TO AIRCRAFT.

Featured Replies

Back to basics question. Can anyone tell me which factors govern whether an aircrafts 3D model has lighted / night textures? Can you add these to any add on??

Hi,My suggestion is that you contact the aircraft's author. For an aircraft to display night textures, its mdl file has to be compiled with an option "has light map" activated, then by adding one texture called whatever_l.bmp for each existing whatever_t.bmp texture, lights should show up. These special textures have an alpha channel for landing lights. You may want to have a look at one of the default aircraft textures (open them with a program that supports extended bitmaps like imagetool or DXTbmp) to see how this is done. But it won't work if the original mdl was not compiled with the right option activated.PacoStultorum numerus infinitus est.

Thanks for the reply Paco....I'll contact the author..........//Tonni
