A word on stutters after su5....

Featured Replies

I have a fairly good system: 7800X3d and 7950xt. Before SU5, I was a happy simmer, experiencing excellent performance all around. I did not experience severe stutters or anything to make me feel less than a happy simmer.

I did not make any changes when the sim updated to su5. What changed was that the sim was no longer flyable. Severe stutters beyond anything I had see in the sim until now. Immediately, I concluded that the update introduced new variables that made generated stutters.

It took me a while to get to it, mostly by trial and error and some you tubing, but I finally discovered that setting the  correct sync rate in gpu ( in my case, adrenalin), and msfs 24 is critical. Once I managed to find the right combination, my stutters totally disappeared.  It may seem obvious to some, but to many it's a small yet very critical setting that can make or break the sim.

As an example, a mismatched syn rate between, sim and monitor, would produce a range as high as 90 and as low as 14 fps. Now, I fly at a steady 60 with 2x frame gen and no stutters.

Perhaps I've missed this aspect of the sim, mostly because some people talk about tearing when the sync rate is matched. Anyway, hope this helps some of you who are still struggling with severe stutters.
