Transfering flight dynamics

Featured Replies

Can someone please tell me how I can transfer the flight dynamics from an aircraft to another?I want to do this because one of my aircrafts has a beautiful visual model but poor flight dynamics, and I'd like to get them from another aircraft.Does it work if I simply copy the .air file and adjust the contact points in aircraft.cfg? Thanks for any info.Eric

You have to copy both, .air file and aircraft.cfg. Then change in aircraft.cfg all the necessary things from your original, fltsim.0, General, Contact_points, Lights, Smokesystem and Views. This will work with most of the planes, some air-files have relationship with panel

I'm sorry to say that it didn't work...I copied .air and aircraft.cfg files. Then I changed the copied aircraft.cfg to restore the necessary parameters:- fltsim.0- General- Contact points- Flaps.0 and Flaps.1- LightsThe problem is that the new aircraft crashes into the ground as soon as it is loaded. It looks like a problem in the contact points, even if I restore them from the original aircraft.cfg file.Any idea? Thanks for your help !!Eric

Also look at the cg height above ground and the eyepoint. One thing that can cause you a problem is if the new cfg file uses a different reference point than the old one. In that case your contact points could be way off. What you are doing should work. It sometimes takes a lot of trial and error. If you have FSedit you can safely use it to experiment with the contact points, but don't touch the reference point.John Woodward

Thanks for your help, it now works perfect !!In fact, the problem was coming from static_cg_height and static_pitch, which need to be copied as well.Eric
