Biz Jet over the Altiplano (May 30)

The flight starts at San Juan De Marcona (SPJN) on the Pacific coast of Peru.  A key regional and military facility in Peru, San Juan De Marcona serves as a training base for the Peruvian Navys Aviation Force, supporting maritime patrol, search and rescue, and coastal defense operations.

The first leg takes us to Arequipa (SPQU), the White City.  This serene metropolis is blessed with a pleasant climate and eternal sunshine. Among its many treasures are photogenic plazas lined by palm trees, colonial-era architecture that have earned the city its UNESCO World Heritage title, and regional dishes. As you wander the cobblestoned streets, you’ll quickly see why Arequipa is called the “White City” or “Ciudad Blanca.” Sillar is petrified ash from decades worth of volcanic eruptions. Used as the primary building material for Arequipa’s churches and mansions, it bestows the city with a radiant appearance.

Continuing east into Bolivia our next stop is El Alto Intl (SLLP).  El Alto (Spanish for "The High One) is the second-largest city in Bolivia, located adjacent to La Paz on the Altiplano highlands. El Alto is today one of Bolivia's fastest-growing urban centers and is also the highest major city in the world, with an average elevation of 4,000 m (13,123 ft).

Proceeding southeast we reach Cochabamba (SLCB), the fourth largest city in Bolivia, known as the "City of Eternal Spring" or "The Garden City" because of its spring-like temperatures all year round.   Cochabamba is one of Bolivia’s boom cities and has a distinct, almost Mediterranean vitality that perhaps owes something to its climate. The spacious, ever-expanding new-town avenues have a wide choice of restaurants, eagerly grazed by the food-crazy cochabambinos, and the bar scene is lively, driven by students and young professionals.

Turning south we head to Uyuni (SLUY).  The Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world, with an area of approximately 4,086 at 11,995 ft above sea level. Following rain, a thin layer of dead calm water transforms the flat into the world's largest mirror 80 miles across.

The final leg takes us over the Salar and on to the Pacific coast to Chilean port city of Iquique (SCDA).

This journey was designed for business jets which can cope with the longer legs and high terrain.  I will fly the Cessna Citation CJ4 N221S Aircraft Livery.  The Pilatus PC21 or Longitude are also good default business jet choices.  As always, you are free to fly what you like.
