I wanted to introduce SkyDeck, which has now moved into public launch after an extended period of development and live-flight testing.

SkyDeck is a browser-based flight operations companion for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The aim is to provide a connected operational experience throughout the flight, rather than functioning only as a standalone ATC replacement.

SkyDeck currently includes:

• Voice ATC with semantic readback handling

• Controller handoffs and real-world frequency/controller-role logic

• SimBrief flight-plan integration

• Ground and turnaround operations

• Cabin operations and announcements

• CPDLC

• Live flight map and weather

• Pilot tools

• Pilot Network for connected pilots

• Console Smart Tracking

• PC Live Telemetry through SkyDeck Bridge

Console support

One of the main reasons SkyDeck was developed this way was to support console pilots as well as PC users.

On PS5 and Xbox, SkyDeck uses Console Smart Tracking. It combines the imported flight plan, flight-state modelling, timing and pilot interaction to follow the flight without requiring direct simulator telemetry.

You therefore don't need to be running Microsoft Flight Simulator on a gaming PC to use SkyDeck.

PC Live Telemetry

For PC users, the optional SkyDeck Bridge connects SkyDeck to Microsoft Flight Simulator through SimConnect.

That allows SkyDeck to use live aircraft information including position, altitude, groundspeed, heading, vertical speed and other flight-state information.

If live telemetry becomes unavailable or stale, SkyDeck can fall back to its Smart Tracking system rather than ending the flight session.

More than ATC

ATC is a major part of SkyDeck, but the wider objective is to make the entire operation feel alive.

A flight can progress from clearance and ground operations through departure, en-route ATC, CPDLC and cabin service, then into approach, landing, arrival and the final stand.

Feedback is very welcome, particularly from console pilots, as that's an area where we wanted SkyDeck to offer something different.

The aircraft is only half the flight. SkyDeck brings the rest to life.
