Watermark on carto positron

Featured Replies

Hi,

Recently, the CARTO POSITRON map has started displaying "API KEY REQUIRED" as a watermark.

I obtained an API key from the CARTO website, but I don't know how to enter it in TOOLS - OPTIONS - MAP KEYS.

Do you think you could fix this?

Thank you.

Sigh ... yet another service ... ☹️

I have to adapt the DGML file for this. Gimme a few days. Too busy with all kind of stuff now.

Thanks for the information!

Thanks for your quick reply.
Oh, that's a shame because I use it all the time.

Thanks and good luck with everything.

Alright.

I noticed that you do not need an account but can register for an API key for their basemaps right here: https://carto.com/basemaps/apikey/

Replace the content of the two DGML files in your installation folder with the ones below.
You'll find a new field "Carto API Key" in LNM options on page "Map Keys". Enter the API key from the email they sent you and restart LNM.
Now go to LNM menu "Tools" -> "File and Directories" -> "Show Map Cache". This will open Windows Explorer or whatever file manager your OS uses. Delete the folders "cartolight" and "cartodark" to clear the map tiles with the watermark out.

That's it. Next LNM version will include the change.

Carto mentions phasing out these maps in the future, BTW. No idea how long they will be available.
