How to mirror animated parts properly?

Featured Replies

That's the problem - as soon as we have to use mirror modifier instead of "mirror selected objects" function in GMAX - this reults into following - part's animmation parameters, etc. stays the same. So, all the mirrored parts' animation needs reconfiguring from the very beginning... While, those parts and animation sometimes may be rather complex - so it is very time consuming and nerve consuming operation. (see example below). So, that is the question - is it somehow possible to mirror the part and animation it has properly and without a need to rework it again?... I reviewed several tutorials and Gmax help for that case - but could not find a solution.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/16732.jpg

I don't know of anyway, except to when animating set up the pivots so you can do each object on each side at the same, time, so if you rotate one it rotates the other in the same direction. Nice model you got there!Andy :-wave

Seems this won't give much help here, because of the angles... :( I hoped there was a way of cloning and mirroring already animated part... well, thanks anyway

just wondering...does heirarch/transform reset the pivots to where they should be?I follow a workflow pattern in which animations are near the end of the design, before textures, so I dont run into this issue.just wonder if you've tried, longshot I know.joe
