Strange Request - NO external model

Featured Replies

Figured this would be the best place to ask this:I am very borderline with FS9. Not sinking money into hardware until closer to the end of the year.Is there a way to completely remove the external model from an aircraft so as to free up the system resources?Basically, all I was is the dash view as I'm an instruments guy, and have no use for spot views, tower views, etc...Ray

So, get the BGLC SDK (I think that was it) and compile the attached aircraft example, consisting maybe of two or three polys total, no textures at all. I think this is little enuff, heh! :-hah

In fs9aircrafttemplates, there exist a nomodel.mdl. Haven't tried it yet though.

How does one hook it in? I know nothing about this stuff. Consider me Mr.Newbie :-lol

Take the nomodel.mdl, copy it to the MODEL subfolder of your aircraft.Either delete - or prefereably, rename th eexisting model file (for example - B777_300.mdl and rename it to B777_300.ldm.rename your nomodel.mdl to B777_300.mdl If all goes well, you get an invisible model./ The downside is, you also get no virtual cockpit because those are built into the model. However, consider that you frame rates *shoud* not change too much, because the external parts affect the frame rates only when they're being drawn. An older model ported into FS9 without a VC would serve the same purpose...Felix/FFDSPegasus Aviation Design
