September 15, 200322 yr Hello,What is the right way to design a small part like a pitot tube or lever using FSDS2? I would hate to use a tube and have lots of tiny polygons, or is that the only way?ThanksJohn Woodward
September 15, 200322 yr If you want any sort of depth to it, you'll have to pay the polygon cost, whether 3DSmax, gmax, or FSDS.At it's very basic to give some sort of roundness, a stick or pitot tube is a 5 sided tube - only 5 polygons, if you don't cap the ends... If you can get the effect with only a 3-sided tube, so much the better.Felix/FFDSPegasus Aviation Design
September 15, 200322 yr Author for things like pitot tubes I usualy us an 8 sided tube with 2 or 3 sections to make it have a point. for a lever I also use an 8 point with as low a poly count sphere as possible for the knob. in the over all sceme of things especialy in the VC if you keep alot of the exterior parts out of the VC model, more complex internal parts won't affect frame rates noticably.Brian
