Reciprocating Engine Startup

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what determines the times for which the prop_still and prop_slow are shown for a reciprocating engine?

The Prop RPM's determine the times. What speed is very difficult to ascertain unless you write a gauge that spins up slowly to see the transition.Watching my turboprop slow down (easier to see than starting up), it looks like still to slow occurs at around 75 RPM's, and slow to blurred occurs at around 150 RPM's. Monitored with AFSD the RPM's jump quickly so it may be 20-30 off. Note that this was observed with the props/engine shutting down but I think startup is the same.Doug can give more accurate data on this I believe.
