April 11, 200620 yr Hi,I was wondering if anyone could point me where I could get some digital pics of a monochrome "older" style radar unit; I mean the "round faced" ones, I believe Bendix made these "Scopes"... (among other manufacturers I would imagine...). I am trying to convince Reality XP to make an older monochrome style version of their weather radar... :), but it seems they require a descent bitmap for the console part (If I understood them right...) Yeah, pretty unusual request.... but any help would be appreciated :)regards,Macs :)
April 12, 200620 yr Commercial Member Google is a wonderful resource:) You might try searching for PPI, or Plan Position scopes, as those were widely used "back in the day". Searching strictly for images rather than web pages probably won't yield the best results. You're better off just searching for web pages and then find images within those. I found lots of them, but you will no doubt need to rummage around a bit more to find an ideal image. If you do find one, please remember to get permission to use it.Good luck,--Jon Jon Blum Vertical Reality Simulations
April 13, 200620 yr Google a search on "SPS-10 display".SPS-10 was an old Naval surface search radar that used a ppi. I trained on them about 20 years ago as an electronics tech. They were used to teach the basic principals of radar before moving on to the current styel of equipment.Scott / Vorlin
