Is there such a thing, or is it even possible? an interface between the autopilot and the radar altimiter.

>Is there such a thing, or is it even possible? an interface>between the autopilot and the radar altimiter.That wouldn't work as a RA only gives you the altitude under the sensor.As in the real world, you have to have a forward looking sensor, or (and I hope this is not classified) you have to use a highly accurate terrain database.

Patrick,it is called EGPWS and is available from Raytheon for GA aircraft. Have a look in recent AW&ST. 16 October 2006 page 66Ian
