November 16, 200718 yr Author >how do you add carrier capability to an aircraft>I have [tailhook] info>but not [launchbar] or [power_assist_Takeoff] info>>any help is appreciatedAdd these two sections to the aircraft.cfg file and modify theposition data accordingly. Use the "contact_points" section toget an approximate idea of what the coordinates should be forthe aircraft in question. For the launch bar location, usethe nose gear position data from the contact_points entry. From the T45C Goshawk file as an example:[TailHook]//tailhook_length=6.5 tailhook_length=7.0 tailhook_position=-16.206, 0.0, 1.031 cable_force_adjust=1.0[launch_assistance]launch_bar_pivot=12.6, 0, -0.2 launch_bar_lug=12.6, 0, -5.2 Nose gear location:[contact_points]point.0 = 1, 12.6, 0, -5.2, 36000, 0, 0.75, 45, 0.2, 1.0, 0.500, 4, 4, 0, 0, 0You may also need to beef up the landing gear by increasing the Impact Damage Threshold, item 5 in the contact point listings ( 36000 above, which is WAY overkill...3600 would be more appropriate )This should enable you to trap/launch on the default FSX moving carriers. For non-FSX models ( older "static" scenery CVN's ) you willneed to add something like "rcbco-30.zip" or "3wire".Paul
November 16, 200718 yr Author >what is launch_bar_lugThe launch bar extends forward of the nose gear and swings down to attach to the catapult. It is this attachment that pulls the aircraft forward when the cat is triggered. The attachpoint to the CAT would be the lug. The attachpointto the aircraft would be the pivot.A holddown bar is also attached from the rear of thenose gear to the deck and holds the wircraft in place as the engines are run up. When the cat is triggered, theholddown bar breaks and releases the aircraft.Have a look through this thread:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=423154&page=It contains a post with a couple of screen shots, one of which showsthe launchbar. November 16, 200718 yr do you need to add holdback bar attachpoint or put it into aircraft.cfg filealso, isnt their a variable to change the force exerted by the cat!
November 17, 200718 yr Author >do you need to add holdback bar attachpoint or put it into>aircraft.cfg file>>also, isnt their a variable to change the force exerted by the>cat! No need to add a holdback. Yes, there is a launch force variable in the tailhook section:cable_force_adjust=1.0 Paul
November 17, 200718 yr are you paul lange?p12c pilot, or do you just seem know everything about fs!thanks
November 17, 200718 yr Author >are you paul lange?>p12c pilot, or do you just seem know everything about fs!>>thanksNo, I'm not Paul Lange. As to knowing "everything about fs"....well hardly :)I just read alot of forums on a daily basis and "digaround" in various aircraft cfg files and xml code.I only got back into MSFS when FS9 came out. Before thatI was immersed in massively multiplayer WWII sims such asAir Warrior ( now, sadly, gone ) and Aces High. As a retired Electronics Engineer I tend to look at alot ofthe hardware and software forums that relate to fs :) Paul
