May 11, 200224 yr Is there a program that will batch convert 8-bit bitmaps to DXT-1 format? Better still, is there a way I can get PSP to open this format?- Martin My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
May 12, 200224 yr don't know psp, I use Corel Photopaint. Martin Wright has provided a utility called convim.exe that will convert an 8 bit palletted image to dxt1. http://fly.to/mwgfx/ Bob Bernstein

I know there's a "Save All" function in the menu, but It does not seem to convert them. Can you clue-me-in here?- Martin My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
May 12, 200224 yr Author Commercial Member If you use ImageTool from the DOS prompt you can let it convert more then one texture at a time. Use "Imagetool -h" for more information about the switches you can use.ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. May 12, 200224 yr The problem with the Image tool is that it is known for doing a very poor job as far as preserving the quality of the original BMP in the conversion process, for this you would be much better off using Martin Wright's excellent programs.Paul
May 12, 200224 yr Author Commercial Member I haven't really tried Martin's DXT tool, but for the old Fs2000 bitmaps I prefered ImageTool above BMP2000, because with BMP2000 the mip maps often had pink colors in them, which looks bad in the scenery.ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. May 12, 200224 yr Author Commercial Member Just did an little test and DXTBMP indeed gives better results then ImageTool. I also don't see the color problem from BMP2000 anymore. Thanks for the tip....ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.
