Which program?

Featured Replies

Which program is best at creating the following type of scenery for FS2k2?I want to add city streets and highways from a database, such as the Tiger or USGS street data files. Then I want to add buildings, and other objects for my local airport and town. Thanks,Richard

That much detail will take its toll on frame rates. You'll have to address the issue of autogen trees & buildings coming through your streets. One annoying feature of FS is Large autogen buildings randomly distributed in areas where family type homes exist. What you want to do is possible however. How do you feel about gmax? It really would be the best approach. Before gmax the common program was Groundmaker or Airport 2.60.also a couple of programs to make custom buildings (those where you add your own textures from photographs). EOD & Nova, come to mind.

One little correction. You will still need a program like GroundMaker or Airport to place roads, runways, etc as GMax is only intended for 3D objects. For 3D objects GMax is the choice now, before that were FSDS and EOD.ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.

Thanks, I'll look into Airport. If I can't do the streets, I won't fool with the rest. Without streets, there's hardly any way to know where you are.Another possibility, is to try and use Terrascene 2 scenery in FS, but I hear that's hard on FPS also.Richard
