GMAX - Airport and helipads

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi allA while ago some of us on the Airport support forum came up with a method of preventing the ground level from "moulding" itself up to the level of an elevated helipad. This method of anchoring the terrain involved creating a large (invisible) helipad at local ground level (expressed in MSL within Airport) with the elevated helipad sittin at a higher altitude. The whole lot was surrounded by a Flatten area. That worked for me (us) using a combination of FSDS and Airport to create and place the macro, helipads and flatten area.I've recently switched to Gmax and have created a library using FSregen. The single object currently in the library has been brought into Airport using techniques described elsewhere on this forum. Next I've used Airport to place the helipads and the flatten area.Problem! the terrain "anchoring" trick no longer works for me. My buddies on the Airport forum haven't come up with anything definate yet although I've got one suggestion still to try.Any suggestions here how I make a part of a Gmax building into a landable helipad. Either using Airport or not.David

The old method should still work. Just make an Area16 BGL file that contains the hard surface and make sure it matches with your GMax object.I am not sure which programs can do this, as I always did it with just SCASM code :). Probably Airport can.Arno

Hi, long time no see !The "Landing Area" in fsregen turns a rectangle designed in gmax to a hard surface.Of course you have to use gmax, even if it's just for that.Mind you, this won't be exported and compiled to a library object. It seems that the need for some decent documentation is a must, since so many times I see questions that fsregen already does, yet people do not know it.Cheers allGeorge
