FS2002 sound levels.

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago, I started messing with the sound options in FS2002. I turned the Engine way up, and turned ATC way down. Basically did a bunch of crap that I didn't really want to do. So, my question. Is there a way to reset the default sound levels without re-installing FS2002? Maybe someone who has the defaults can take a screen shot of the sound options screen and post it for me. The engines are way to loud, and I have to turn my amplified speakers way down, and then I miss everything ATC says to me because I can't hear it. Please help.

Here's an idea, The settings which you are refereing to are effectively what is known as a "Mixer". With that said, turn down all the sliders to zero, then bring up the one you want to hear loudest, first, and set your volume level. After that, just bring up the other levels to...uh..mix the sounds. :-)

You can access the sound volume parameters by editing the FS2002.CFG file. They're in the following section (These are my settings) :(SOUND)SOUND=1SOUND_FADER1=0.330000SOUND_FADER2=0.125000SOUND_FADER3=0.500000SOUND_FADER4=1.000000SOUND_FADER5=1.000000SOUND_FADER6=1.000000SOUND_QUALITY=41.0 would be the maximum volume. Unfortunately I haven't figured out which SOUND_FADER corresponds to which set of sounds, so just set them all to a single value such as 0.5 (50% volume) and adjust them to your liking in FS.-Leon Medado

Cut and paste your fs2002.cfg file to a safe place on your harddrive. Restart fs2002 to the default flight and fs2002 will regenerate a new fs2002.cfg with all the default settings. You will lose all your joystick calibration settings etc. but they can be copied from the saved copy.
