Reflective textures on buildings?

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi,I was wondering if it's possible to put reflective textures on buildings?I made a simple GMax building and put a bmp to the sides. I then converted the bmp to DXT3 with alpha. I put some striped test patterns in the alpha part, but when I display the building in FS, the building gets transparent stipes (becomes invisibile). Is there a way to set how the alpha channel is handled?Obviously FS can handle reflections (as in the planes) but is there a way to do this with scenery? (or am I missing something obvious?)regards,Jimmy.

Hi Jimmy,You must also add the texure on the Highlight -> Color tab of the material editor. Then the alpha channel will be used for reflection and not for transparancy. On the link below I have some picture of the scenery I am working on, but with and without reflections. This scenery is made with GMax too.http://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen/eham...view/bpier.htmlArno
