Animated textures...

Featured Replies

Hi, I want to make a UK style active runway holding point light (little black cuboid with alternating flashing orange lights on them) in Gmax. Obviously it will be quite simple to make the box but how do I animate the textures so they will alternate and flash?Thanks:-wave

you should design the cuboid in GMAX and use effects for the lights. read you... Migh

You could try to add a beacon to the light object in GMax. See the MakeMDL SDK for the correct naming, etc. But if I remember right it is explained there. This means that the part will only be visible at some times and at others it will not.Arno

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.

Thanks, but I don't particularly want to mess with MakeMDL yet, because using textures would make this hold light look more realistic, I think, in this case. I know in FSDS there was 'create animation frame 1' and so on to make textures animated but is there one in GMAX?Thanks:-wave

You can also assign the beacon to a polygon that has the texture. Then the texture will be turn on and off depending on the beacon variable.Arno

How do I add the beacon? What I have so far is a cuboid with 2 width segments. I want the texture below to alternate between the two segments.:-wave

I think that will be hard using GMax. When you give them both the beacon, they will both dissapear at the same time. I think you can only do this by editing the source afterwards.Arno
