September 21, 200223 yr I'd like to create my local airport for FS2002, but I've never touched scenery before, so I don't even know what questions to ask.Where do I go to learn how to create mesh? How do I create a photo-real area? (land, not buildings)I tried using the Landclass Assistant to update the surrounding city, but it doesn't seem to have a high enought resolution to do what I wanted. Can I adjust landclass for an area smaller the 1 square km?
September 21, 200223 yr If you are doing an airport, I recommend you download the following programs:Airport for Windows - http://www.airportforwindows.com/ or http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/airportsupport/FSSCV151.zip - Avsim LibraryGroundmaker - http://www.grundmaker.org/Easy Object Designer - http://www.echos.ch/eod/Many of the above have their own forums. September 21, 200223 yr That is a really big question. Several actually.Microsoft has pulished as series of Software Development Kits (SDK)s that are available on the FS2K2 web sight. http://zone.msn.com/flightsim/FS02DevDeskSDK00.asp They have documentation and tools & tutorials to help you get started. A word of warning. They are written in Microsoftese. Some of it assumes you have some programming experience but even if you don't there's stuff in there that will be helpfull. This approach is kind of the "From Scratch" method. There are also TONS of programs available on this sight as well as alot of others that will make the job easier. Some are free, some are shareware, some are commercial products. Here are some suggestions. I'm sure that others here with more experience can suggest others.Airport http://www.airportforwindows.com/This package includes another program called Scasm which is really powerful. www.scasm.deTerrabuilder is hosted on this sight I think.Gmax is on the FS2K2 Pro CD It's a CAD program that lets you build stuff and place it into your scenery. It's also available for download (free I think). http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/gmaxconsumer/You'll need a decent image editor. Paintshop Pro from JASC is a good one. http://www.jasc.comTheres also a windows port of a linux image editor called GIMP that's free. www.gimp.orgYou'll need some satelite photos http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/ is a US sightDownload the scenery sdk and the terrain sdk and the Scasm docs and start reading them first. They'll answer alot of your questions better than I could.Good luck.
