November 5, 200223 yr I have downloaded my entire state county shape files *lka, *lkb, *lkc, *lkd, *lpy, and *wat. Would someone please give me an example/samples of attributes used by TerraScene? I just donot understand the documentation on this task. Maby because they give an example of other countrys files. If you wish or would e-mail them to me.I have worked with Terrascene for Fly! from its birth, but not with shape files, and as DlG data is no longer updated I want the newest data I can get.I get no response from Fly! November 6, 200223 yr Author Hi Richard.I too am surprised you've gotten no answer... perhaps no one knows.I'm thinking the data used by Terrascene needs to be in SHP, SHX, and DBF formats. I don't know if your data is acceptable, and only needs a extension change in the name, or if it needs conversion. In addition to FME, Microdem can perform some conversion to SHP format, and perhaps more. Hoprfully, someone else will shed some light on this. There are also some data translators available.http://software.geocomm.com/translators/arcview/http://software.geocomm.com/translators/dlg/http://gislounge.com/ll/translators.shtmlhttp://www.tnris.state.tx.us/gistools/translators.htmhttp://www.geoplace.com/gw/2000/0600/0600gis.aspDick

November 6, 200223 yr Author Hi Richard.First off, you need to make folders in "C:Program FilesTerraScenedata-filesmanually-added".. you may need to make a separate folder for each set ( if the files themselves are identically named, that means they do need separate folders for each county's set ).Then, within Terrascene2.1, you need to access the digital maps 'wizard' under the 'options' menu.Within "digital maps", you can open the folders, and access the fileswith "add selected".Keep selecting "next" until you get to "select the key to use as the key attribute". Check out the different keys. If one gives a recognizable list of lines or shapes, then select that by choosing "next". If nothing is recognizable, then you probably need to go back and select a different shapefile. Now you are taken to a window that allows you to map the shape to a terrascene type. Click on the shapefile value, then click on the mapped Terrascene assignment, then click on "map to". Repeat until all the items are mapped, then click "finish". This mapping is smart enough to know the difference between a polygon and a line, and therefore limits the mapping.Dick
