Cylinder segments in Gmax

Recommended Posts

Hi,When making a cylinder in Gmax, is there any way of making the cap segments unequal in terms of angle? As a simplified example, let's say you have a cylinder with 4 cap segments, but if you look from the top, they would not all be 90 degrees, but you would have 2 segments of, say, 100 degrees and the other 2 at 80.Is there any way of doing this? Thanks!

Try adding an Edit mesh modifier to your object, select the polygon (side) you want to change, switch to the appropriate view (top, left, right...) and then just turn the polygon to the desired angle. Alternatively you could select some vertex points and move them around to suite your needs.BamceEFHN

That's the same thing I thought about, but on a second thought I thought it might mess up the shape (wouldn't be circular anymore).Another suggestion might be to make a 100 degree segment and a 80 degree segment. Copy both of them so you have two and align all four parts again to form a complete cylinder. After that use a compount object to get them into one object again.Arno
