Land Use Data...

Featured Replies

Hello Chaps,Does anyone know where I can get (freely) detailed land use data for the entire UK and Eire ? When I say Land Use data I probably mean Land Cover data (telling me where farm land, urban land, city, moorland is etc).Idealy the data should be in the form of raster images, but any will suffice as I can process it to be that way. Resolution as high as possible of course, but any would be better than none.I have done some searching on the internet but have come up with nothing as yet. Thanks everyoneChris Ehttp://www.circle-software.co.ukhttp://website.lineone.net/~flightsimukAvoid AGP texturing = Better Performance ;)

Hi Chris. You could try this:http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/glcc/tabgoode_euras.htmlThese are equidistant projections of 1km landclassification data... I think it's what is needed for us.In fact, can be directly used as a Source for resample ( I think! ). [link:edcftp.cr.usgs.gov/bin/gunzip/pub/data/glcc/ea/goode/easlcr2_0g.img.gz]Seasonal Land Cover Regions is still 1km cells, but it has a more varied legend... which would need to be translated for FS2002.Dick

Dick,Thanks for those links and for your time to respond. It is ironic that I actually found that information shortly after posting here, but it's nice to know that I'm on the right track.Incidently, I require this data for X-Plane scenery I am developing, and by looking at this data, it seems that the 96 land classes used are the ones which produced the default X-Plane scenery, albeit in a very simplistic fashion. I intend to use it much more intelligently. Thanks again.Chris Ehttp://www.circle-software.co.ukhttp://website.lineone.net/~flightsimukAvoid AGP texturing = Better Performance ;)
