How to add an aircraft carrier

Featured Replies

I am interested in adding one of the Hornet class aircraft carriers from the Midway collection of ships at Netwing into FS2004 to try my hand at getting the MAAM Briefing Time off the deck like the men of the Doolittle raid. Is this a simple task? What tools? Any tutorials or How To docs? Thanks for some guideance and advice. Colin

I had a quick look at that site, but I couldn't find the carrier you meant (I think). It depends a bit on the format the carier has now how easy it is to add it. If it is a obect library for example it will be easy. So can you be a bit more specific which file or format it is and then we might be able to help :).PS. I assume you mean Fs2002?Arno

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.

I have a USS Hornet CV-8 ready to be converted! You tell me what you need. I have created a non library BGL and tried an Area 16N... plane starts inside the ship on the water and crashes. The Hornet is a GMAX model... built to exact scale and camoflaged correctly. Detail down to her 20mm guns on the catwalks.I have created library objects using FSRegen so maybe we can figure this out?Tell me what you need in terms of BGL type... or even source files. Heck tell me what I need to do! Have looked here and elsewhere..can I code the flight deck into the .ASM file to get a hardened deck using FSRegen? I desperately would love to get Hornet into FS2002 in time for the 61st anniversary of the Doolittle Raid. Would be fabulous to get the MAAM B-25 taking off from the real CV-8 Hornet! As it stands right now... only my CFS2 fans will get Yorktown, Enterprise and Hornet.I have a ton of ships including carriers such as Oriskany, Coral Sea and Forrestal that I would love to contribute to the FS2002 freeware community.Let me know what I need to do... I will jump thru hoops to get this done! :-wave

I don't know how complex your carrier is (can you go inside like the MS carrier?). If only the upper deck needs to be hard then it shouldn't be a real problem (as long as the carrier is not moving). I have also made helideck for our scenery team, the principle should be the same. I think the fastest way is to make a small extra BGL to make the deck hard. If I have an example ship I can make an example file for you.ArnoPS. You can mail me at [email protected]

Has anything become of this project? I just recently purchased MAAM's BT B-25 and started to do some research to produce the scenery with ships and carrier. I don't want to re-invent the wheel here if I don't have too. Thanks,Bill

If I remember correct that carrier has been finished back then, but I don't know where it was released or can be downloaded.
