October 15, 200322 yr Any way to attach an effect (*.fx) to a scenery object?I've been working on a project, and thought it would look cool to have smoke coming out of fireplace chimneys. Did a couple using the effects sdk and looked very nice. Put it on my brothers machine to get his oppinion, and found a problem. I'm using FSGenesis, he isn't. So the smoke on his is originating from a point that floats way up in the air above the house.I found a default factory with smoke that was raised by FSGenesis on mine, and the smoke effect still comes from the correct point on both of our systems, it moves with the building. Anyone know how to do this?
October 15, 200322 yr Author Commercial Member I think this depends on the type of RefPoint the effect is placed with. With type 7 the height depends on the mesh, while with type 2 it is compared to MSL and does not depend on the local ground level. How did you place your effect? October 15, 200322 yr This is my first attempt at using effects, so I started with the only thing I could find. The fs2002 sdk. I used the bglplacer that came with it to create the first file, then found I could edit it easier with excel.I don't see an option for type... is there a better way to do this?
October 15, 200322 yr Author Commercial Member Let me first see what kind of code teh BGLPlacer tool makes. You can also place effects with macros for example or using FsRegen. So there are some other possibilities. Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.
