December 25, 200322 yr Hi all Found today into my FS9SceneryWorldTexture folder a file called detail1.bmp. Found that it is responsible for that nice dot-effect (at least for me) on default ground texture. Also, found 4 other files in main texure folder (runway_detail.bmp, runway_detail02.bmp, taxiway_detail.bmp and taxiway_detail02.bmp) that do the same thing but acts on runways and taxiways. I was wondering: how do I apply such effect to regular ground poligons (aprons)? How do I apply such effect (dots) to my home-made textures? Another question: how to make poligons with the same texture resolution as the runways and taxiways (aprons textures looks a bit large to me, and I'm trying to make something more detailed using the dots and larger textures). I should just increase the size of the texture? Thanks for the time, drumelo
December 26, 200322 yr I belive FS uses the following trick: there are two polys instead of one poly. One with usual texture and one about 50% transparent poly with "detail" texture (the "pixels per meter" number is set to quite high for this texture). The second one is with higher layer number and so it's displayed over usual texture.
December 28, 200322 yr Commercial Member I think these textures are more blended into each other, like the wave effects on the water. That makes it hard to repeat them in addon scenery, as I think it is something deep in the scenery engine.Maybe you can recreate a similar effect with two polygons, but I don't think it will turn out just as nice. December 28, 200322 yr LAGO used this 2-poly trick in Hurghada scenery and I couldn't find difference between that and the default.
