Ground2k Coastlineproblem

Featured Replies

I have a problem with ground2k. When i updated ground2k V2 to V5 (I didn't discover there had been released so many versjons) I started up a new project, but now it's inpossible to make smooth coastlinedrawings.. I get the message "unable to calculate coastlines" everytime i try to make a smooth coastline.. This worked for me in Ground2k versjon 2.. Can anyone help me?See attached image (this it just a example image, not from the project itself)Greetings Daniel Eliassen

Hello Daniel,Some of the previous versions of Ground2K4 may have had some small quirks. Perhaps you could try re-installing version 5 and then all the updates. But, in any case, you should be aware that your method for designing coasts is bound to give you problems. When the polygon's curve crosses itself, you will get an error. But, you will also get an error if, for any reason, the curve cannot be closed normally in order to form a polygon. This might be the problem that you are facing. The best way to draw a polygon is to NOT try to join the ends. Ground2K4 will always close a curve by drawing a straight segment from one end of the curve to the other. So, just end your curve as close to the other end as you want without actually closing the polygon. This might solve your problem. Please let us know how it works out for you.Best regards.Luis
