October 30, 200421 yr Hi all,I'm new to scenery design, and a new user of SBuilder. What I'm trying to do is bring a Shapefile of forest polygons into SBuilder so that they'll render as VTP polygons in FS (so that I can preserve the shape of distinctive looking forest patches in the sim). The problem is that SBuilder gets confused over complicated concave polygons. It tends to create almost a convex hull around them. It seems to handle simple concave polygons well, by splitting the poly into triangles, but with more complicated shapes, SBuilder's algorithms lose the original shape of the poly.So I was wondering if anybody has any experience in pre-processing these complicated concave polygons to reduce them to many adjoining convex (or simple concave) polygons. To illustrate, here's a pic of a complicated concave polygon that I've manually split into convex and simple concave polys:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/95988.gifSo -- has anybody come across an ArcScript or some methodology to do this, or has anyone figured out a way to process these complicated shapes so that SBuilder has an easier time with them?Thanks,Greghttp://members.rogers.com/gmoffatt/images/ERJ_CRT.jpg
