May 8, 200224 yr Actually, two quick questions:1).In the process of "splitting" an airport, do I remove ALL objects on just one side of the airport, and export the remaining objects as the "new" airport; and, then repeat the process for the other side?2). If the airport has only two runways, is the runway length consideration an issue at all? Many thanks ... !
May 8, 200224 yr There is a pretty detailed explanation in the AFCAD manual - look under "overlay airports".Basically, you remove anything from one side of the airport that you don't want. For example, if you have two runways, you make one the longest and remove all the gates that you DON'T want aircraft landing on that runway to use. You don't normally have to remove taxiways, unless you want to force those aircraft to use a specific route. You also don't have to remove runways, since AI aircraft will only use the longest one.The runway length will determine which runway the aircraft of that overlay will use. Normally you will have each overlay use a different runway, by shortening the other runway (leaving the other one the longest).Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
May 8, 200224 yr Tom,That was precisely the information I was looking for.I did read the manual, but came away with the impression I would have to remove runways .... Many thanks !
