Assigning transparent textures

Featured Replies

Ive been trying to create scenery again after a long absence.I was just wondering... do you assign transparent textures the same way you did in fs2002??I assign a texture with an alpha channel to the opacity map, and it becomes transparent in gmax but not in the sim...Any help.. or a good link to a tutorial ... would be appreciated.JohnNewburgh, IN

Hi John,Yes, that works the same as for Fs2002.Actually assigning the texture is the same for normal and transparant textures. The only difference is that your texture has an alpha channel for the transparant one and this will then show transparant in Fs.

Thanks, Arno..Yeah, I figured out what I was doing wrong... I was converting the .tga bitmap with the alpha channel into a format flight sim could use. It's funny how all this stuff starts comign back to you...But I tell you, one could easily get lost in creating scenery and spend less and less time flying.Scenery design is just too time and labor intensive.John

I meant.. I WASN'T converting the .tga format into one the flight sim could use..Happy New Year.
