February 4, 200521 yr Having trouble getting the animation correct in Gmax. How does one set up a pivot so the doors will cycle through the proper animation?I'm trying to make folding doors. Thanks,Adam
February 5, 200521 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Adam,For folding doors I never had to change the pivot point, as they do not rotate in general. If you hangar has multiple doors, then it is likely that some of them need to remain static for a part of the animation, in that case you need to add position keyframes at the proper places to make sure they remain static. Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. FSDeveloper.com | Former Microsoft FS MVP | Blog
April 14, 200521 yr Hi Adam,I had problems with making a smooth operating folding door and this is how I accomplished it.My folding door consists of an upper door, lower door and a hinge between the two.I changed the pivot point to the top of both the upper and lower door and left the hinge in the center. I linked the lower door and hinge to the upper door. This way they follow the movement of the upper door where they make contact. I then annimated the door by moving the upper door up and out and moved the lower door down and in proportional to the upper door ( for smooth operation). As I moved the upper door and lower door I made sure the bottom of the lower door followed the door frame up so it looked like it was on a track and moved upward in the same plane. I hope this helps. It works good for me.Craig
