location triggered hanger animation

Featured Replies

Currently I'm using various NAV2 radios to control hanger doors but in another area where I do 3D animations, we can use an invisible trigger object to trigger an event. In this realm, as one approaches a door, the person crosses an invisible object (the trigger) and due to the proximity of the invisible object to the door, it is assummed that the person wishes to pass through the door and the door opens automatically.I would like to do the same thing in FS9. As an a/c approaches a hanger, I would like the hanger doors to automatically open and when the a/c is entirely inside the hanger and across the interior trigger object, for the door to automatically close. If you want the door to remain open, just place the a/c so that it touches the interior trigger object.I've built the hangers with animation using Gmax and they work using the NAV2 radio but I would rather use an automatic method described above.Any idea how to accomplish this in FS9/Gmax ?Thanks!Bob

Hi Bob,I don't know how you tweaked your animations to use the NAV frequency? But I think you can get the effect you want if you use a bounding box as a trigger. My CAT utility will allow you to add one easily. If you set this box so that the aircraft is outside of it when it is fully inside the hangar the doors will close behind it.

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.

Thank you very much! This is exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. There's soooooo much available for FS that I didn't see this with all my searching.Red Eye
