About transparant textures for fences and so on...

Hi,I know, a lot of other people have post such a topic. I red also many about this item and tutorials... but not realy found a step-by-step tutorial.It is not only for a fence but also for object where transparancy is needed.If I start already with an image of a fence (on a white background or an object) and load it in DXTBmp... I see at the richt side a white alpha channel screen (but this is not loaded yet). I save both : image and empty alpha on my desktop. Then open the empty alpha in PSP en also the image. I copie and paste the image into the white alha screen en via Menu / Colors I click on Negative.Well now... is this negative my alpha image I need ?Further I intend to save both files apart to a DXT1 image... ???I red also that the alpha had to be named as image_fence or so.Many questions. Please help.
