November 2, 200520 yr I would like to create some small grass or dirt airstrips for bush flying. I want them to follow the existing terrain and not be "flattened". Is this possible? If so what programs or utilities do I need to make them?
November 2, 200520 yr Hi Jimmi, I am new to scenery design, but I am also doing exactly what you describe. I used SBuilder to make tilted flattens that follow the terrain (more or less). This takes some trial and error. Then for a "runway" you can create a polygon with a "dirt" or "arid" landclass for the runway texture. If you want a more defined texture I think you will have to use GMAX and recreate the slopes and then map a texture onto it. I'm not sure about that though, it's one of the questions I asked in a thread just down the page that nobody has responded to just yet. But so far I've been able to create some decent looking strips just in SBuilder.Hope that helps.Ryan
November 2, 200520 yr Thanks Ryan, Well that's good news of sorts, at least it can be done. Looks like we're thinking a long the same lines. Now another noobie question where can I get SBuilder?
November 2, 200520 yr available here in the Avsim library.http://library.avsim.net/index.php?CatID=fs2004sdThere is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it SBuilder is a really nice program (this coming from a fellow newb).regards,Ryan
November 3, 200520 yr Hello Ryan,I am glad to know that you can make slopped runways with Sbuilder. You say that, for the runway, you use a "landclass texture". I wonder if you have tried a "normal" (= any resolution) texture as, as far as I can tell, it should also be possible. Regards, Luis
