Sunshine and Shadows

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is strictly scenery but:Ever since the very first versions of Flight Simultor aircraft and scenery objects have had shadows, very important it seems to me, without shadows everything looks 2 dimensional. But these shadows look exactly the same as they always did. We have had wonderful improvements in clouds and general ambience but the shadows still look the same. There is no variation with weather, the shadows always look like its a bright sunny day, on a typical gloomy UK day there would be hardly any shadows, indeed there have been occasions when the shadows have looked so out of place with the weather that I have turned them off!Of course any improvements in shadow "fuzziness" will have a frame rate impact - nothing new there, the clouds did the same thing..Just a thought for 2006 (or whenever the next version appears)Geoff

Hi, Geoff. You're right. It would certainly not be very hard for MSFSto include a subroutine like this:...IF CLOUDS = BROKEN_7/8_AND_MORE THEN SHADOWS = OFF... See what I mean ?? B-) Blue skies.
