FSDS and API Macros

Recommended Posts

I would like to edit older .api macros with FSDS v2. Three questions:1. Can objects made with FS Design Studio v1.6 and exported as an .api file be imported to FS Design Studio v2 for editing?2. Do you need more than the .api file to edit the macro?3. How do you import any type of .api file into FS Design Studio v2 for editing? Thanks

You can't edit the .api file directly. You need the original .fsc file, which is not normally part of an objects distribution. What you can try, is to contact the .api creator, and ask "nicely" if he wouldn't mind sharing his source. No one ever thought to make an .api decompiler, and I'm not sure it would have been a good idea anyway.- Martin

Hi,As Martin said, it is not possible to import an API macro back into FSDS. And that is not such a bad idea, as else "stealing" other peoples work would become very easy :).Depending on the kind of changes you want to make, it could also be possible to make them directly in the API macro. By changing some SCASM commands there you can also change the object.
